Music has been has been a part of Mad Max’s life since he was a child, growing
up in Ogden, Utah where he came from a broken but loving home. He was still
subject to violence and drugs at a young age, a lifestyle that controlled his
adolescence and young-adult years. Since then, Max has adopted a “Love Life
philosophy, which he incorporates into every aspect of his life, including his
music. Max believes “life’s too short not to love it” and even has the words
“LOVE LIFE” tattooed on his knuckles.
Max integrates his life experience into his music, turning a negative into a
positive with the up-and-coming style dubbed Prog Rap. Playing off the concept
of Progressive Rock, which was established in the late 1960’s to early 1970’s,
Progressive Rap is a movement to bring Hip Hop to a new level of understanding
and overeall musical creativity. Max pushes the evelope, blending genres from
across the board, utilizing live instruments to create a positive and passionate
audio experience unlike any other. “People might hear my raps and confuse a lot
of my aggression as negativity”, said Max, “but it’s the underlying message
that’s positive.”
He has collaborated with Capitol Records recording artists such as Royal Bliss
and Mark Kendall of 80’s rock band Great White as the Executive Producer on the
album. He was also lucky enough to catch the attention of Christopher Athens who
mastered the project. Max has also shared the stage with various artists such as
Mos Def, Public Enemy, Three 6 Mafia, Too Short, Dead Prez, Immortal Technique,
Tech N9ne, Bubba Sparxxx and Afro Man, along with many others. He has won first
place the Mountain Regional Rap Battle of the Bands, and performed at the Van’s
Warped Tour.
Max is currently working on his first solo debut album entitled “Love Life”
which includes singles such as “Underground” and “Rock Me”. The album isn’t
projected to break until early 2012. However, he just completed his first
successful international tour and released the album in Tokyo, Japan August 2011
